Hands-on trainings for research groups and academic programs

I offer workshops and multi-session courses for groups want to strengthen their writing and presentation skills together. Everything is tailored. We start with a conversation about your goals, and I design a training to fit.

My trainings and workshops are always hands-on, energizing, and can be tailored to any group.

Consider…

You’re organizing a PhD retreat or summer school… You want a session that’s practical, engaging, and gives participants tools they can use right away.

You want to invest in your research group or department… You’re looking for professional development that improves how your team communicates their work, and maybe builds some camaraderie along the way.

You coordinate a graduate program… You want to give your students communication skills that complement their research training.

Trainings can focus on any number of topics…

Writing — Structure, flow, paragraphing, clarity, how to kickstart your writing pricess, how to write a given kind of text (paper, proposal, review, etcetera), and how to make the writing process less painful

Presenting — Storytelling, delivery, managing nerves, engaging different audiences, pitching, poster presentations, presenting your science in film or podcast

Science communication for broader audiences — Translating research for non-experts, whether that’s media, funders, or the public.

AI tools for research and writing — How to use AI effectively and responsibly in your workflow, what it’s good for, where it falls short, and how to stay in control of your own voice.

However, even seasoned acadmeics or private-sector knowledge workers stand to benefit from courses in academic writing and research presentation, if not only for their own increased efficiency or ability to adapt to any audience, then to further improve at actionable feedback on their own student’s writing.

How long are the trainings and workshops?

Everything depends on the balance of your needs and what is possible within a given time frame. Workshops can run from one to three hours, and trainings can involve anywhere from two to eight sessions of up to three hours each.

Our in-person trainings and workshops are delivered on-location at your university, lab, or other designated meeting space.
